Colgate-Palmolive lauds Lubao’s oral health thrustBy Albert B. Lacanlale
LUBAO, Pampanga—A leading oral-hygiene products firm has recognized the local government unit of Lubao for its continuous oral health programs.
Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, in recent ceremonies, made Lubao as the first municipality in the country to be given the 2016 “Bonggang Smile, Bonggang Future by Colgate” Region 3, held at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Manila early this month.
Dr. Mary Ann Macaspac, Public Health dentist of Lubao, presented the plaques of recognition and appreciation from Colgate to Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab on Tuesday at the municipal hall.
The awards were given by Colgate-Palmolive Philippines’ officers Diomar Escat, Public Health/Scientific Affairs Manager; Dr. Angel David II, head of Professional Oral Care; and, Jay Custodio, Associate Marketing Director for Oral Care.
The plaques underscored Lubao’s support in providing invaluable oral health care programs to ensure a “Bonggang Smile, Bonggang Future Philippines.”
Macaspac said Lubao earned the distinction for its “preventive” programs in oral health, which include regular health education dissemination conducted since 2010, tooth-brushing drills and fluoride application to more than 1,000 day-care and pre-elementary students.
Mayor Cayabyab regularly awards pupils who are practicing sound oral hygiene in follow-up activities to determine the effects of the drills and fluoride applications to the oral health of beneficiaries.
Medals and fruit baskets are awarded to students whose oral hygiene is properly maintained since being covered by the LGU’s health program.
In 2015, Lubao was also named best oral health implementor in the Central Excellence Award for Health for 2015 by the Department of Health.
